While it generally takes about 14-foot pounds of pressure to tighten the nut down, there is an easy way to ensure you don’t overtighten the bolt that doesn’t require the use of a torque wrench. Tighten the bolt down until you see two threads sticking out from the bottom of the nut after it is installed on the vehicle.
